Method of Auction

Silverwoods will conduct auctions in the following ways:

Timed internet online

The catalogue for the Fine Art and Antiques auction is on our website and the-saleroom.com approximately two weeks before the sale.   Please note if you are bidding via the-saleroom.com, you will need to register with the-saleroom prior to the sale. 

If you are successful, you will be contacted and you can arrange collection yourself or our in-house department can arrange postage and packing of items if needed.

For Architectural Salvage, Rural and Domestic Bygones the sale will be conducted by Auctionmarts.com and for this sale you will need to register separately here

If you are successful, you will be contacted and you can arrange collection.

Live Internet online

The same applies as for the above Timed Auctions.

Live gathering

If you want to bid in person at any of our sales, you need to register in the office for a bidder's number.  Your details will go on our system and you will be issued a 'paddle' - a piece of paper with your number on it.  If you wish to bid on an item, hold it up clearly so the auctioneer can see your number.

Viewing of Lots

Silverwoods will now be placing emphasis on the display of lots in auction catalogues creating an emporium, of galleria of antiques, furniture and fine art within exhibition 'rooms'. Vendors, therefore, can be assured their items are displayed in the best way and for Buyers to see items in context; rather merely on racks. In 2021 we will me moving to viewing periods every weekday when customers can see for themselves the next catalogue developing with new lots.

2. What time does bidding commence for timed online auctions?

Generally bidding may commence as soon as it is published via the-saleroom or Auctionmart.

3. What time does bidding end for each lot?

Please check for each sale catalogue as the starting time may depend on the number of lots. However bidding for each lot will begin to end at 15 sec intervals from 9.0am on the last day of the sale.

4. How will it be confirmed I have won a lot?

the-saleroom.com will notify you immediately if your bid is the highest bid at any time and then if successful. 

5. Do I have to register once and then just log in for future sales?
