Rural and Domestic Bygones

 

Unique to Silverwoods, our bimonthly Rural and Domestic Bygone sales are hugely popular and feature more than 600 lots of unusual vintage items, curiosities, agricultural, railway, dairy and gardening antiques and collectables. Buyers flock from around the UK, Holland and Ireland and often auction prices go way above their estimates for items unearthed from sheds, barns and lofts the length and breadth of northern England.

A Bygones sale will often feature:

General Auction Information

All Bygones entries are delivered on the Thursday and Friday prior to the sale.

Viewing times are on the Friday prior to the sale 12 noon to 5pm and morning of the sale from 8am.

Due to the fact delivery of items to be sold is very close to the sale, for purchasers unable to attend viewing we are unable to provide additional images or condition reports until the afternoon prior to the sale.  At this time only written condition reports will be provided by email.

For purchasers unable to attend we are able to offer a commission bid service (telephone and online bidding unavailable at this sale)

Silverwoods offers a packaging and postal service for customers unable to collect any items purchased, please contact the office for more information.

A Buyers Premium of 18% (15% plus VAT) applies on the hammer price of each lot.  The VAT is not reclaimable under the Auctioneers Margin Scheme.

We accept cash, credit cards (subject to 2% handling fee), debit cards and bank transfers.

We can take payments over the phone or by post

Vendor Information

All customers wishing to sell at the Rural Bygones sale should fill in the entry form and return to Silverwoods in advance of the sale (closing date on form) to be included in the catalogue.

All Bygones entries are delivered to Silverwoods on the Thursday and Friday prior to the sale or by agreed appointment.

Silverwoods deducts 15% commission of the hammer price of each lot sold up to a price of £200 and 10% of any balance achieved over this amount.

A minimum charge of £1 is applied to each lot whether sold or unsold. 

The costs are subject to VAT at the current rate.

Payment to vendors will be made 5 days after the sale subject to cleared funds by cheque or bank transfer if relevant details have been provided.
