Silverwoods information for auction buyers.

Q: How do I buy from Silverwoods Auction

A: Simply follow these easy steps

  1. Firstly you must register with us and we issue you with a Bidders number which is valid until the end of 2010 (there is an admin fee of £2.50).
  2. You then look around the auction room during the viewing period, making a note of any item you want to bid on. We also suggest you make a note of your limit for the item.
  3. When the item you wish to bid on is announced at the Auction raise your bidders card or catalogue to indicate to the auctioneer that you are bidding. If you drop out of the bidding and wish to resume bidding, again indicate to the auctioneer that you are bidding. Please note that there is a 12.5% + VAT (14.69%) Buyers Premium charged on each lot.
  4. If you have successfully purchased any lots and you decide to leave, please settle your account in the office where you will be given a receipt.
  5. You hand this receipt to a porter at the packing area who will collect your items from the saleroom for you.
  6. Feel free to use any packaging provided to ensure your items are safe and secure

Q: What if I cannot attend the auction?

A: If you are unable to attend the auction simply pick up a bidding slip or ask a member of staff for one during viewing. Fill this slip in with your maximum bid and hand to a member of staff. If your bid is successful, a member of staff will contact you immediately after the sale to arrange a collection time.

Q: What if I can't attend the viewing and the auction?

A: We always urge people to try to view the items so they are happy with what they are bidding for. If you are unable to attend the viewing and the auction, call a member of staff who will be happy to describe the item and answer any questions regarding the item. We can then fill in a bidding slip for you and the auctioneer will bid on your behalf, we will then notify you if you are successful within an hour of the completion of the sale.

Q: Can I bid over the phone?

A: Yes we will conduct telephone bids on any items over £150. We will contact you approximately five lots prior to the item you are interested in. We can not be held responsible if we are unable to make contact.I f all lines are booked on any item that you may be interested in bidding on, then we can bid on your behalf if you leave us an absentee bid.

Q: What if I am unable to collect the item?

A: If you are the successful purchaser of any lots we can arrange transport or posting of the item. This service is at your cost. Please contact us before the day of sale to give the relevant information.

Q: How can I pay?

A: We accept cash, credit and debit cards and a cheque with bankers card (large amounts will have to be arranged before bidding). We can take payments over the phone or by post but please do not send cash through the post.
